Parthenium weed
Fragrant annual, initially a rosette then upright 30-150 cm, with a deep taproot. One main stem with lengthwise grooves, branched in the upper half and becoming woody. Leaves pale green, deeply lobed, 8-20 cm long, with short hairs. Flowers white to cream, in small compact heads 4-10 mm long, in loose, sparsely-branched clusters, late spring - autumn. Seed could spread from Qld and NSW along roads or via grain, hay or livestock.
