Lobed needle grass
Perennial tussock 25-80 cm tall. Distinctive seed with large, off-white papery lobes. Leaves 20-50 cm long, to 1 mm wide and rolled inwards with a short, membranous ligule. Flowering stems unbranched, to 1m tall, with flowers on the top 10–20 cm. Flowers shiny, seed about 6 mm long, with a distinctive 5-8 mm long, two-lobed collar at the base of the 60-85 mm long awn. Infestations known across Melbourne 's northern outskirts.
