Lagarosiphon
Submerged perennial, branching stems up to 5 m long, forming large mats. Stems brittle, 3-5 mm wide. Leaves widely spaced on lower stem, densely spaced above, stiff, 5-20 mm long, 2-3 mm wide, with minutely saw-toothed margins, curved downward, spirally arranged around stem. Individual plants either male or female. Female flowers tiny, solitary, on threadlike tubes floating on the surface. No known male plants in Australia . Spread by disposal of aquarium contents.
